I must admit that I am not a bacon-obsessor, as so many seem to be; however, even I found this recipe extremely satisfying to eat. A change from the usual simple taste of marshmallow and buttter, the bacon in this recipe brings in an element of umami. The depth of flavor balances the sweetness and complements the textural fullness which is always present in Rice Krispie Treats. Thanks to Megan Green of My Bacon-Wrapped Life for this delicious recipe.

Browned Butter Bacon Rice Krispies
Ingredients:
4 slices thick-cut bacon
1/2 cup butter
10 oz marshmallows
1/4 tsp salt
6 c Rice Krispies
1. Cut bacon into small pieces and fry until it reaches your preferred degree of crispiness. Drain on a paper towel.
2. Grease an 8" x 8" pan.
3. Melt butter in a large saucepan. Once melted, continue to cook butter, stirring frequently. The butter will start to foam, then turn brown and begin to smell toasty; make sure to continue stirring to it will not burn.
4. When the solids have browned, turn off the heat and stir in the marshmallows. When marshmallows are completely melted, remove from heat and stir in teh Rice Krispies, bacon, and salt.
5. Spread mixture into greased pan, pressing into the corners.
6. Allow treats to cool, then cut and devour!
