One of my parents' friends runs a candy shop, and while I was on chemo, she had them send some Angel Mints to me. Apparently a lot of chemo patients buy them help with the metallic taste that many chemo patients experience. Personally, I managed to get away without that particular side effect, so I just enjoyed the mints for their own sake. They have a pleasant, melt-in-your mouth texture, and will crumble if you bite down on them. Like most mints, they'll stimulate saliva production - try eating them before a meal to help with any metallic taste as well as to make it easier to get the food down.
The Florida Candy Factory, which produces Angel Mints, recently shared its story with the Tampa Bay Times. When a major customer cut ties with the company, responses from cancer patients who appreciated the company's mints helped the Florida Candy Factory find a new direction and purpose in providing a little taste of comfort to those who needed it.
